When people undergo redecorating or redesign of the home, they realize how many options they have. There
are many decisions to be made and not just when it comes to the color of the walls and floor composition. Even items like shower curtain rods come in a variety of styles from which the homeowner can choose.
With bathroom designs changing by the day, you no longer have to settle for a traditional, boring shower
curtain rod. After all, boring shower curtain rods can drag down your entire modern bathroom design.
The best way to redecorate the shower area is to select the desired shower curtain and then choose the
liner, rings, hooks, and a rod. The setup of the shower will determine how large the curtain, and thus the rod, must be to provide proper coverage.
Straight rods are probably the most common ones that people use.
Today's shower curtain rods come in plenty of different shapes and sizes, with plenty of options. And no
matter what type of shower curtain rod you choose, many of them offer the same visual details, like brushed nickel, bronze, and chrome
finishes.
Corner showers often need what is referred to as a neo angle rod. These are created to be cut to size to
fit within the corner shower area. Another unique rod style is the u-shaped version, which usually includes ceiling supports due to its unusual
shape. These supports keep the rod securely suspended so the entire setup does not fall.
When constructing or redesigning the bathroom, consider which shower curtain rods will be most suitable for
the area. The decision may seem like a small one but it can actually influence the dicor of the area quite a bit. Selecting an attractive curtain,
rod, and rings or hooks will make the room look decorative and tasteful.
By opting for more modern shower curtain rods, you will have to spend a little bit more than you would for
a traditional rod - but the extra features definitely make up for it!
So, what kinds of new designs are out there for you?
Double shower curtain rods
These are just what they sound like - two shower rods instead of just one. With them, you get extra
convenience. One rod can hold up your shower curtain, while you can use the other one to hold your bath towels or even your wet
laundry.
Imagine how nice it would be if you didn't have to walk across the bathroom to get your towel when you were
finished showering. Double shower curtain rods can make that dream a reality!
Out of all of the more modern shower rods, these are usually the cheapest, since most of them are shaped
just like a traditional shower curtain rod. The extra price you pay is simply for the convenience of having two of them.
L-shaped curtain rods
These are perfect for showers that aren't totally enclosed or for one that is not embedded into a wall.
Both the rod and the curtain continue from the front to the side of the shower area. With bathroom designs becoming more and more unique, open
showers are becoming more and more common. However, with the invention of L-shaped curtain rods, you can design a bathroom based solely on looks,
instead of logistics.
L-shaped rods usually cost more than other shower curtain rods because they are built differently. They are
extra-sturdy, because their shape requires them to largely support their own weight. And, they come with special hardware and mounting brackets to
secure them to the wall.
Curved shower curtain rods
If you have a traditionally-shaped shower - but you long for a bigger one - a curved shower curtain rod can
give it to you. These rods curve outward and instantly add 6" to the width of your shower. With one, your tiny shower can suddenly seem huge. These
usually fit into standard openings when secured at both ends, so consumers can choose them instead of straight rods. And, best of all, you get that
added space without remodeling your bathroom or installing a new tub.
Plus, curved shower curtain rods are designed in such a way so that they do not let water escape. That way,
you get the extra space you so desperately want - without soaking your floor!
However, before you install curved shower curtain rods, you need to make sure that your bathrooms are big
enough to handle them. In a very small bathroom, you may not have an extra 6" of space.
In most cases, curved shower curtain rods cost more than their traditional counterparts, but less than
L-shaped curtain rods. And, with these curved rods, you don't have to worry about any special hardware or installation. They attach to your bathroom
wall the same way a traditional shower curtain rod does.
Hopefully all of this information helps to make your decisions go a little smoother. Enjoy the new look
of your bathroom!
